We are excited to welcome a new addition to our herd, Scarlett Apple.  He is a 1998 Thoroughbred Gelding by Press Card out of a Val De L'Orne mare.  He has previously competed at Prelim level in eventing.  We look forward to working with him this winter and hope to aim him for some competitions this spring.

Catty was recently given her 5 month Rhino shot.  The vet also confirmed that she is still safely in-foal.  We are truly excited to see her foal by Maxamillion in the spring.  Jayvyn was weaned last week and handled it very well.  He is always easy to work with, and we hope to show him on the line next year.

We are very happy to report that Valen has been leased to Kianna in New Jersey.  She will be competing him in the Children's Hunters.  We look forward to seeing his name in show results in the near future.

Valen did very well at the Hunter Show at Frying Pan Park yesterday.  He competed in Schooling Hunters, where he placed 3rd in the flat, and won both over fences classes to earn Champion.  We were very pleased with this result as it was his first show in almost 6 months.  We look forward to taking him to the Summerplace Farm Hunter Show on Sunday.

Below are a few quick photos taken yesterday of Jayvyn (Gatsby x Gottloewe), he is 4 months old today.  As you can see Jayvyn loves his Yearling 1/2 brother Ianto.

The BWP Keuring went really well.  Ianto scored a terrific 78 in the Yearling Futurity, including receiving an amazing 18 points for his topline.  Jayvyn got a great first premium score of 79.  Thank you to Ralph Johnston for doing a wonderful job showing our boys, and to Anna Purdy for getting terrific photos.

Below are a few quick photos taken today of Jayvyn (Gatsby x Gottloewe), he is 7 weeks old.  We are excited to see how he does at the BWP Keuring in a month.  Notice in the right photo, it's a bit hard to tell, but he is already practicing pirouette.  :)  We need to remind him that we bred him to be a jumper.

Ianto (Torino x Gottloewe) went to the Upperville Colt & Horse Show this past weekend for some mileage, and he behaved wonderfully.  Below is a photo from the Other Than Thoroughbred Yearling Colts & Geldings class.  His next stop is Dressage at Lexington on July 10th.

The newest addition to Ash Knoll Farm was born early in the morning on May 8th.  We are proud to introduce Jayvyn, a BWP colt by Gatsby (Gonzo I x Seattle Song xx), out of Paksenarrion (Gottloewe).  He is dark bay with a blaze.  Below is a photo of him at 7 days old.

Valen went to HITS Culpeper this past weekend and was super.  He and Carolyn were Champion in the 2'9" Adult Equitation, though there were only two in the division.  :-)  We are planning out his schedule for the rest of the summer, and are excited to attend more shows.

April 8, 2009

Valen went to his first show of the season this past weekend, and did well.  After having almost zero warm-up due to a scheduling error on our part, he went and marched around like a champ.  Even with no warm-up he managed to ribbon in a class of 15.  We are looking forward to showing him at HITS Culpeper in 10 days.

March 13, 2009

Ianto went to the Michael Bragdell handling clinic last weekend and did great.  It was a great introduction to in-hand work, and with some more practicing during the spring he should be ready for some shows this summer.  Unfortunately we didn't get any video of the day, but below are some photos from the clinic.  Please excuse his wooly coat, and it was also unseasonably warm making it look worse.

February 2009

Paks was recently checked by the vet, and everything is coming along great.  She has about 3 months left until she has her Gatsby foal.  Catty will be bred late March, early April to Landkonig.  Ianto and Carolyn have been practicing for their upcoming handling clinic with Michael Bragdell.  Hopefully we will have some video of the clinic to share the second week of March.

January 2009

We are looking forward to a great year here at Ash Knoll Farm.  Paks is due in mid-May with a Gatsby foal.  Catty will be bred to Landkonig in April.  Valen will be back showing in hunters this spring.  Further, we hope to get Ianto out to some Future Event Horse and Dressage Sport Horse Breed classes.  First on the calendar this year is a handling clinic with Michael Bragdell of Hilltop Farm the beginning of March, which Ianto will be participating in.
